... if you weren't at Fullsteam's opening of their tavern/tasting room last night -- well, it was quite the zoo, in a pleasant way. Busy and hot, the place still had a good vibe. The crowd seemed to have a good time, and went through 17 half-size kegs, according to head beer geek Sean Lilly Wilson on their Facebook page. Fullsteam even made GQ. (GQ?!?)
The Gentleman's Quarterly article is nice, but it takes the commenters to point out that North Carolina has had a thriving microbrewery industry for a while, especially around Asheville. Commenters also point out the developing industry locally, like Triangle Brewing already here in Durham, and other breweries a little farther away, like Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill and Big Boss in Raleigh. But still, it's getting better.
I remember when Weeping Radish -- decent beer, but crappy food -- pulled out of Durham. The brewery works were still visible until recently, when the building on Duke Street was renovated. Sometimes we as a community have to step back a foot before we can go forward thirteen inches But forward it is.
I asked them to change that header right when I saw it...it's both embarrassing and wildly inaccurate. Thankfully, people I've talked to recognize the title is the magazine's doing and not indicative of Fullsteam's philosophy or mentality.

Sean -- It's not a bad article. I guess headlines and cutlines are written to grab attention, not to convey information. But I don't think anyone is going to take it as a slight by you in any case.
