Is there anyone out there making new beers who isn't making hop bombs? It's not that I dislike hops, but everyone seems to be loading whatever hops they can into whatever new beer they come out with. I guess there'll inevitably be a backlash; at this point, I can't say I'd mind. Some new Scotch ales would be nice. :)
Doesn't French Broad do a lot of the Scotch Ales?

9/9 - French Broad Brewing Company in Asheville makes a Wee Heavy and a "Wee Heavy-er" that are both Scotch style ales. But Highland Brewing Company (also in Asheville) makes a Gaelic Ale that I like more. And I miss Lionheart, FWIW. For more traditional products, there's Belhaven's Scottish Ale and Wee Heavy. Then there's McEwan's Scotch Ale, which is like drinking dessert. I love the stuff. :)

I have been digging the Lagunitas Uncensored Rich Copper Ale. It's a little sweeter than I usually like but very easy to drink.

Joe-
It's funny you posted this. I don't think enough local breweries are brewing hoppy beers. I have to buy hoppy beers that have been shipped from the West Coast. My favorite right now is likely Green Flash West Coast IPA, now that's a hop bomb.

I really like the Abbey Dubbel that Triangle is offering as their current seasonal brew. If you can get the bourbon cask aged so much the better. Rue Cler has it on tap but you can also get it at the brewery.
