1013 West Main, formerly known as Gatsby's, has a sign up outside that says "Now Hiring." People were going in and out of the building today, and there's a rumor that they'll be opening tonight. (I say rumor because anyplace that's taken 18 months to get open turns into a case of I'll believe it when I see it.)
Edit: OMFG. The area code is right, at least.
The bartender said that they should have opened on Monday when I spoke to him last Friday. Again, who the hell knows? I got a free bottle opener out of meeting the guy (nice weapon, at least). Apparently, the first round of drinks were on him. He said it would the food would be a "glorified version of Chili's."

Well, at least that sounds honest, or something.

Yeah, I was like "ah...that's nice." He said that he's trying to get Stella in there (trying to sound like it was something special). I personally prefer Yuengling. I don't think this place is going to last long. The Federal is a ten times better bar than this sounds. He said that it was aimed at Dukees coming in from East Campus knowing that it's the first bar they'll see.

Right -- all those 18-year-olds with fake IDs drinking illegally, I guess. Maybe they'll stop and buy MD-20/20 illegally at the Shell Station across the street. Or maybe they'll wander over to the well-known crack and horse dens filling Trinity Park -- no ID required! -- and score some crystal meth. Or maybe they'll just go to the Cosmic Cantina and score a $2 burrito. :)

This is kind of exciting, but honestly I'd be just as excited to have Bread and Kabob back.

It's open as of last night. Half-price apps some time in the afternoon. I'm not too interested, honestly...

I doubt it'll be good, but after 18 months or so, I'm dying to get in, even if only to confirm my totally unfair prejudices. Besides, I've been wrong before: I thought Dain's wouldn't make it through their first summer. Boy, was I wrong. :)
