I currently have three JLMBBC loaves in the oven. They're about ¼ oatmeal, plus a little more sprinkled on top. The rise in the bowls was a little less than normal, but they look moderately ok cooking. The problem is the smell. Not that's it's a bad problem: it smells so good that I don't think I've ever wanted anything to get finished so badly in my life. :)
I'm gonna go get the cutting board, knife, and butter ready. ;)
I have one in the oven now too. I would love to know how your oatmeal comes out.

It was really, really good. Not in a stars-and-firecrackers way, but in a really satisfying one. And the crust was about the best I've ever done. I ate almost half a loaf, which would have been not so bad were I not already eating breakfast. :) How was yours?

Do you think blended oats would work too? I've been meaning to make some more bread and I think you've convinced me to start tonight.

Jeff: The oats wind up pretty much disintegrated, so it should work fine. It might absorb water faster. I'd strew some regular oats on top of the loaf before baking for effect (if you have them). Also, 25% may have been pushing it, so you might want to back off a little. Finally, the lasts thing I added was a little tiny bit of molasses (about 1 teaspoon per loaf). You cold do that or not as you choose.
