Last month was a busy month at EAJ!. I posted 34 times on 22 different days. :) Maybe I should try to spread this stuff out a little bit -- maybe post once a day or less, and maybe save posts and publish them on days when I wouldn't otherwise have anything to publish. OTOH, I guess there isn't much need to sit on a post when it's ready. Publishing a post does mean I have more readers on that particular day, or at least more hits. What do you folks think?
Curiously, hits are way down over the past couple weeks. I've been posting less, but the times I've posted haven't driven hits back up to where they were. Maybe it's some sort of holiday slowdown, or maybe you're all just sick of me. Or maybe you all had heart attacks from eating too much on Thanksgiving. :) But despite having a little lull in hits around Turkey Day, we still had almost 9,000 hits that month, and hit 70,000 lifetime site views during the first few days in December. Woo-hoo! We also have well over 100 readers subscribed to feeds. Thanks for reading. And your comments and questions are always appreciated.
I've also had some pretty massive posts lately, some only peripherally about food. There's been trivial stuff, important stuff, and even something close to a restaurant review. I try not to be dogmatic about what I post here, but I do try to make sure it's at least marginally food-related. I'm not sure what my focus is, but I try to have one. :) I also usually don't know from day to day what I want to write about. I also don't know what my readers would like to see. So things change. It's fun.
So how could it be more fun? Maybe another blog would help. :) Some of you may have noticed a link for BaconBlog! The Pork Barrel in the sidebar. BB! TBP, at least right now, is a co-operative blog about food. Writers are all currently local. There's a focus on pork products, but that'll probably wind up working the same way this blog is focused on food: all over the map. I do plan to tag all entries about bacon and pork for ready reference. :) Right now we have three authors who've posted, and have invitations out to a couple more. Most are already food bloggers who live in Durham. If you'd like, please help roll the pork barrel along, and take a look.
As those fine, fake wine-cooler-meisters used to say, "Thank you for your support." As always, it's all good. You folks are great.
Don't worry about the traffic, as it's not like you (or any of us) are making money off this. We do this for fun, to stroke our egos, and to maintain a dialogue. Although there are now a lot of local food blogs in the region (a hell of a lot more than I thought), yours stands out because you do post a lot, it's not formulaic, and you have a sense of humor. I don't want to just read a bunch of reviews or recipes. I like variety. I like fun. So keep up the good work.

Ahem. Why was I not informed of a new blog carrying my name?

Gang: Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I don't actually have to worry about traffic, and I'm not making money on it (well, I did get $25 via my tip jar once, but that was totally eaten by this year's blog bill). However, none of you can see what's truly important here: Total World Domination. :)
Bacon: because I've known bacon longer than I've known Bacon. :)
