Some people have too much money and no sense of taste. If you're like that, live near Dallas, and want chocolate, apparently Noka is your place. If you have any brains, or just dislike giving huge amounts of money to someone for tiny amounts of chocolate, try going to, say, chocosphere.com, or even Amazon. For laughs, go look at their pretentious-as-hell web site.
Holy hell, those things are 'spensive! Give me the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory any day.

Oh yeah, and for even cheaper and quite good chocolates from Baltimore, try Rheb's Candies. I'm usually not much of a sweet tooth, but Mom sent me homw with a whole ton of chocolates and cookies and candies and stuff, includimg some Rheb's, and I was impressed with them.

Personally, I like See's, but they do a different type of product.
Does the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory do chocolate-covered mountain oysters? :)

Since I'm a rube from Central PA, I'd be happy if someone sent me Hershey bars with almonds.

Just found your blog and I'm very excited to see a blogger in Durham. I wish I'd know you were there 2 months ago!
I actually think Noka is pretty smart-preying on stupid people is never a lovely personality trait. But preying on stupid RICH people is a notch above.
It's the same category as $700.00 designer jeans.
All I have to say is thank goodness I don't need to buy this chocolate to define myself. I'll stick with scharfenberger nib bars or little lindt balls and eat like a queen.

Sucar: Glad you found the blog. It's mostly linked to and commented on by friends; I'm always happy when someone else finds it, likes it, and comments. / If Noka wants to charge $300-$2000/lb. for chocolate, and someone else wants to pay for it, that's certainly their business. But were I to run into someone who wanted to spend that kind of money, I'd want to spend some time attempting to educate their palates, especially when the chocolate Noka uses is available for $30/lb. or less. The last time I made a bulk chocolate purchase, I think I spent about $60 or $70 for 3 kilos of Valrhona IIRC, which means I was spending about $10/lb. I'd love to taste whatever else I can, but probably not at $2000/lb., or even $300/lb. At least not much. :)
