The state I live in (along with four others) prohibits beer of over 6% alcohol. Not even the state-run liquor stores, where you can buy a bottle of 95% grain alcohol, will carry them. But you can go to a convenience store at 2 am and buy a bottle of...

The Cheesesteak File: Durham, N.C.
Lest you think I only eat at up-scale places: A few years ago, a friend from Philadelphia asked where one could get "a good cheesesteak." This is always a loaded question from a Philadelphian, so an investigation was necessary. Another friend quickly joined the search; we all worked together, so...

Fishmonger's will be manning a booth at Taste of Durham. I encourage everyone to come to the festival; the people running it are top notch, & never will you be able to sample so much of the Durham food offerings without getting in your car 37 times. Sure, some "corporates" are gonna be there, but we're getting a 10x10 booth, with running water and two prep tables, for $300. Visitors are given "tokens," which work like money, and we get 30% of our "token money" back. So come out & support Durham food!!
