Why do so many artists have to drink themselves to death? Maybe Mr. Rafferty would have been better off to have continued being a busker on the London Tube for the rest of his life, but then we never would have heard songs like "Baker Street":
Mr. Rafferty made music that actually sounded nice. I realize that's not the style these days, but I appreciated it then, and I appreciate it now. Arrivederci, Gerry. I hope you get where you're going.
I think it was System Administrator Appreciation Day three years ago when I lost my job. :( But were I working, I'd be planning on attending local geek beer at a minimum, which I may do anyway. :) It's the last Friday in July: this year, that's 31 July 2009, or 2 weeks from tomorrow. Go hug your sysadmin, if they'll let you, :) and buy them a beer or a new car or something. Or go point them at the official web site — if they don't know about it, they'll probably be appreciative. :)
I'm not a big comics person, but some friend made me sit down and read Watchmen a long time ago, and I've never regretted it. So I'm also eagerly awaiting the movie. But... just because I like the graphic novel doesn't mean I'm above making fun of it. :)
