Sysadmin appreciation day

I think it was System Administrator Appreciation Day three years ago when I lost my job.  :(  But were I working, I'd be planning on attending local geek beer at a minimum, which I may do anyway.  :)  It's the last Friday in July: this year, that's 31 July 2009, or 2 weeks from tomorrow.  Go hug your sysadmin, if they'll let you, :) and buy them a beer or a new car or something.  Or go point them at the official web site — if they don't know about it, they'll probably be appreciative. :)

While giving the exact same talk, using the exact same slides, I received impulsive, giddy gifts from both a San Francisco medical marijuana club (an enameled marijuana pin - "finally, a physician willing to speak the truth about how safe marijuana is!") and from the Santa Clara police department (a navy-blue district attorney mug - "finally, a physician willing to tell the truth about how dangerous this drug is!").

Perhaps the lack of easily excisable statements is a reason you should go read this, rather than not?  :)
