Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show
The you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.
If a man could be two places
At one time, I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today
Beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away....
"If" by Bread

1. It appears this was inflicted on a German television audience. I suppose somebody thought that was the only audience undiscerning enough to accept this? Or was it punishment for WW2?
2. At the end of the first verse, at "on me", he looks downward and to his left. I've heard it said that's the stereotypical "shifty" glance that tends to indicate the simultaneous experience of fear and shame. Yes, my friend, fear, and shame.

I couldn't find an article about the eye-movement tie as a RESULT of emotional states, but here's the wiki on the related topic of using eye-movement to help manage/revise (my words) emotional states:

MG: Thanks. Pithy analysis is definitely needed here.
P: You should have clicked on the video. He's not singing the song. It's so much better.
What I want to know: who is the woman in the background? It kinda looks like Daryl Hannah, but it probably isn't.
Edit: I forgot to mention that they really should have moved his teleprompter closer to the camera. And... are Telly Savalas and Anton Szandor LaVey the same person?

Very good. But he can't top Shatner.

I think it does top Shatner. And, M., I know you won't agree with this, but I think it tops even The Hoss. ;)

That's a tough call. Hasselhoff is such a genius at marketing himself. But Savalas performing "If" is kind of genius in its own right.
