Did you spot much of the shower?
I went out ~2 a.m. on Monday morning but didn't have any luck in the suburbs-with-slightly-hazy skies of Hillsborough.
Around the same time in San Francisco, my best friend thought he saw a brief streak of light in his kitchen, and we wondered if a tiny meteorite had just blazed through his apartment building. Apparently this happens?

Phil: Can't remember what happened now, but I didn't watch a bit of the shower. I'm disappointed in myself, as the last few Perseid showers have been ruined by the moon, and this one was relatively moon-free.
If a meteorite had impacted your friend's apartment, he would have known it. But their dust apparently filters down from the sky all the time.

I was at Smith Mtn Lake over the height of the Perseids but saw very little action in the sky. Perfect viewing conditions. I think it was just a 'low-volume' year in the comet cycle. Did catch a couple of nice streaks across the sky, but far fewer than in past years.
