Catalog Season: The period of the year before Thanksgiving when retailers try to induce the annual gift-buying frenzy. The year's penultimate "Season." Starts approximately October 15th, but starts earlier every year. Named so because it's the time of year when one gets all those freakin' catalogs in the mail. Contains Hallowe'en, but Hallowe'en is not really part of the Spirit of Catalog Season. Followed by the Holiday Season; preceded by the Back-To-School Season.
