Holy shit. I'm sorry.

Laura

Oh NOOOOOOOOOO!

In order of importance...

1) Subdural hematoma? you feeling OK? Wow.
2) You had a nice car. HAD. Sorry it's wrecked.

Mit Moi

Do the Gods not realize they've visited enough on you all ready?

Aggh. If thought he'd listen to me, I'd talk to the "big guy" about this ... but I don't think I'm very high on his "favorite people list" these days. Something about talking the talk, but not walking the walk.

If you need anything let me know. I plan on being in town all weekend.

Joe

Hey, thanks folks. The car actually doesn't look as bad as the one from the wreck last year, but this wreck was a 1965 car instead of a 2002 one. Now I'm feeling all the aches and pains I didn't feel in the hospital, but at least my headache has mostly receded.

I had a friend who had a sub-arachnoid hemorrhage a couple years ago. My understanding is that those sometimes present as "the worst headache I've ever had." The headache I had from this maybe got to a 6 on a 0-10 scale. I wonder what the hell was wrong with me when I had those headaches that were, say, eights?

By the way, the bleeder was in an interesting space: instead of being on the front of my brain, as one might expect from the accident, it was down between the hemispheres. One doctor (I think he was actually a med student) said he thought it was "kinda cool." :) I think the affected space is maybe the size of half the end joint of my little finger. My mental functioning is maybe back up to 90% or 100% of what it was; it was definitely impaired after the accident, and maybe somewhat yesterday too.

Terry Mancour

DUDE! I'm so sorry . . . and so glad you're more or less OK! Let me know if there's anything I can do! Sorry about the car -- but just think of the lovely restoration opportunity you have ahead of you . . .

Any word from the lawyer on the particulars for a lawsuit? (Hey, it had to be said!) Just curious.

My very best spells for a quick and complete healing . . .

Terry

Laura

I predict some short term memory problems. Start taking notes!

"kinda cool"...WTF? That means you probably had some banging around and twisting in your brain. EEeeeew!

:)

Glad you're feeling better.

Joe! I am SO THANKFUL to fate, your reflexes, whatever all, that you are not injured more than this, and one hopes the hemorrhage will quietly reabsorb, the body quietly & ceaselessly repairing damages as it so wonderfully does, so there. I hope also that circumstances are such that you can sue the bejesus out of the other driver's insurance company. Oh your beautiful car. But this is not even near to destroying you, obviously, because you are one of the sanest people I know. Rest up and get well soon! Please post how you are doing! Let me know if I can help.

Good Lord, Dawgs!

If Experience _is_ the best teacher, you made her ache, too.

I'm glad you're still around- Sorry you're having such bad luck, and all of it in Fords... :^)
Get well!

Barry

Joe - hope you're feeling better soon.

i posted some of the details of your accident to the Bike and Ped, and the PAC2, lists. i'm really getting pissed that Durham can't seem to figure out how to teach people behind the wheel that other people on foot have the right of way in most cases. it's not that hard.

i'll let you know what responses i get.

Joe

Gang: Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad *someone* is looking out for me. ;) Barry: I signed up for durhambikeandped on Yahoo, but my membership hasn't been approved yet.

You know, I've been wondering if the person who hit me was on a cellphone. His parents seemed to show up immediately, so maybe he had one. OTOH, maybe they were already in the car, and I had a concussion and subdural hematoma, so I could have missed the jolly green giant standing there. :)

Phil

Dude, I'm so sorry to hear about the accident. (And there I was not ten minutes ago reading Lisa's blog and thinking you were just being funny when you mentioned the subdural hematoma.)

Peace to you, man. And heal up quick.

Man, Joe, that just SUCKS. I think you've officially completed all your obligatory nasty car accidents for one life. You're done. That's the good news.

I'm glad you are ok!

billythekid

DUDE! I'm almost crying about this! a '65 as well

*weeps*

Joe

Yeah. 289 automatic. Had had the engine, transmission, and rear end rebuilt; the windshield and $deity knows how many small things under the hood replaced; relatively new tires, shocks, and even new springs in front (which made a huge difference in handling); was having the front seat repaired.... I broke the windshield with my head, even though I was wearing my seat belt.
