I think this is the 5th or 6th time we've had wintry precipitation this season. I'm confused because some of the events I remember intersected, and one of them was very quick. But the local mall has had bulldozed piles of snow lying around for what sems like at least a month.
The current event started yesterday, and my employer declared a severe weather day at mid-afternoon. They declared another today. The NWS currently says "Snow storm total of 8 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts" with the precipitation changing over to rain later today. I'd say right now we've had 2-4 inches total over the past 24 hours, with 1-3 inches currently on the ground, but I'm not a weather person. It doesn't look like anything is falling right now; the local radar shows a lot of precipitation nearby.
