Full Steam Ahead
A nice thing about Durham is it's so full of creative ferment in the food and drink industry. There's usually something new going on, something to check on and see how it turns out. Then, when that comes to fruition, something else comes along.
This is no less true with Durham's food blogging. I try to keep up with all the Durham food blogs, and keep them in the sidebar under, well, "Durham Food Blogs." :) Other people are noticing too: Ginny Skalski, at Ginny from the Blog, posted earlier this week about "A tour of the Durham food blog scene." She talks about Durham's rich group of food blogs, and links to a half-dozen of them, including EAJ!. Yay! :)
Ginny also picked up on a blog I hadn't seen before: The Newlyfeds. Gods: they've been posting since February 2007, and I totally missed them. Well, they're in the sidebar now. They're a married couple; one cooks a lot, one doesn't. Lately they're trying to keep their weight down. Good luck with that; if you figure anything out, let me know. :)
I've also added a couple items to the "Occasionally Food, Occasionally Local" section. One is the blog for Sean Wilson's "Pop The Cap" organization. PTC is a beer advocacy group, and was instrumental in getting some of North Carolina's regressive beer laws modified, so we North Carolinians could enjoy some of the excellent, higher-alcohol beers out there.
The other item I've added is another Sean Wilson project: Fullsteam Beer. Fullsteam is Sean's aborning brewery project. Sean is currently looking for space, and has had a couple of near misses over the past year or so. He's currently hoping to go into Durham's Central Park district. My understanding is that Sean is also looking for investors, so if you've ever had a hankering to invest in a local brewery, take a look at his WWW site.

Thanks for linking to the Newlyfeds! We've been posting from Durham only a few months--I moved here from Atlanta in August, and Fred didn't arrive until January. Still getting to know the food and blog scene--glad to make some more connections!
Look forward to reading more.
Jami (The Newlyfeds)
P.S. I should clarify that The Newlyfeds is not truly a joint venture--I write all the posts, which is why poor Fred gets so much abuse. He has his own blog, on his art, faith, and other things, at wordsalljammedtogetherwithoutspaces.com.

Joe, thanks for the write-up and the links! PTC is winding down. My goal is to replace my political wonkiness by starting up the North Carolina Brewers Guild...we'll see how that effort fares.

Sean - Thanks for stopping by. Do let us know when you get a WWW site up for NCBG, and we'll link to it. And of course please keep us informed about every tiny stinking little detail about Fullsteam: Inquiring Joes, and drinkers all over Durham, want to know. ;)
